The Influence of Plantar Short Foot Muscle Exercises on Foot Posture and Fundamental Movement Patterns in Long-Distance Runners, a Non-Randomized, Non-Blinded Clinical Trial

چکیده
BACKGROUND The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of two kinds of plantar short foot muscles exercise on foot posture and fundamental movement patterns in long-distance runners. DESIGN A parallel group non-blinded trial with 6-week follow-up. METHODS Twenty five long-distance runners aged 22-35 years. They were divided into two groups. In group 1 (n = 13) subjects performed the exercise "Vele's Forward Lean" and "Reverse Tandem Gait" and in Group 2 (n = 12) the "Short Foot Exercise." The runners performed the exercises daily for 6 weeks. The Foot Posture Index (FPI-6) and The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) tests were performed twice: at baseline and after 6 weeks of the exercise. RESULTS A significant improvement was observed in FPI -6 (talar head palpation in Group 1, and inversion/eversion of the calcaneus in Group 2). Also in Group 1 a significant improvement was noted in FMS tests: deep squat, active straight leg raise and in total score. CONCLUSIONS Short foot muscles strengthening exercises have beneficial effect on functional movement patterns and on foot posture, therefore they should be included as a part of daily training program of runners. The Effect of National Academy of Sports Medicine and Sahrmann Training on the Foot Pressure Distribution in Flexed Posture Students: A Randomized Clinical Trial
Objective: Flexed posture students who had hyperkyphosis (HKP) and forward head posture (FHP) due to changes in the spine alignment leads to displacement of the center of pressure and increased postural sways which ultimately disrupts the distribution of foot pressure. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the effect of eight weeks of National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and Sha...

Background and Objective: Cerebral palsy is a non-progressive disorder of posture and motor status caused by various factors and can cause childhood disabilities and abnormalities like flat foot deformity. Kinesio Taping is a typical technique that helps relieve pain, relax muscles, and increase proprioception. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Kinesio Taping on the...

Background & Aims: In patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome, the presence of pain, proprioception, and neuromuscular disorders leads to posture control disorder, which causes abnormal distribution plantar pressure. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of twelve weeks of sensorimotor exercises on distribution plantar pressure variables and symmetry index in patients wi...
متن کاملProtocol for evaluating the effects of a therapeutic foot exercise program on injury incidence, foot functionality and biomechanics in long-distance runners: a randomized controlled trial.
BACKGROUND Overall performance, particularly in a very popular sports activity such as running, is typically influenced by the status of the musculoskeletal system and the level of training and conditioning of the biological structures. Any change in the musculoskeletal system's biomechanics, especially in the feet and ankles, will strongly influence the biomechanics of runners, possibly predis...
